The times differ from my synagogue's calendar

Times are computed for your exact location. Printed calendars are usually computed for a whole city, so a difference of a minute or two is normal. The latest times for Shema and Tefilla are shown by both the Vilna Gaon and the Magen Avraham.

40 minutes before sunset in Jerusalem, 30 in Haifa and 20 elsewhere in Israel; 18 minutes outside Israel.
